My Favorite Halloween Movies

Anybody else spending the weekend reading Halloween books and getting super excited for the holiday? I do not like scary movies so these are my favorite Halloween movies:

Halloween Town I and II (children’s movie I know but I still love them)

Hocus Pocus

Wizard of Oz (not exactly a Halloween movie I know but close enough)

Hotel Transylvania I and II

What are your favorites?

Book Smeller

I am officially a book smeller (apparently that is not a word but I like it so I am going to leave it). My mother in law caught me smelling one of my new books one day and asked me what I was doing. She is an avid reader and she had never even heard of anybody doing that. I couldn’t believe it! The first time I heard of this was watching Gilmore Girls and I have been hooked ever since. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a new book or an old classic (as long as it’s not dusty!), I will smell them all!

What do you think? Do you smell your books too?

Fall Traditions

My favorite things about fall are hot apple cider, turning leaves, cool crisp air, and the wonderful decorations. I love the wonderful smell and calming flavor of the hot apple cider mixed with the cool crisp air. Add in the turning leaves and decorations and I am just about in heaven. My favorite decoration is my scarecrow Charlie. I got him at a craft fair when I was young and my entire family always knows who I’m talking about when I mention Charlie. Nothing beats sitting outside on a cool autumn day with a good book and a steaming cup of apple cider.

What are some of your traditions?

Nothing Beats Free Books!

Just a random note, I am very thrifty and hate to spend money, even on books. I will go through hundreds of books at a second hand store looking for anything I might like rather than spend the money on a brand new book. In order for me to spend money on a new book it has to look absolutely amazing, or I have to have gotten it from the library and loved it first.

So imagine my delight when I see two boxes of book at work on our break room table saying “FREE”! I was ecstatic! When I looked inside my delight grew, I didn’t know that could happen. There were a lot of books that I had either borrowed and loved but not yet purchased, or had heard about and wanted to read. Such a wonderful day!

Sorry, just had to tell the world!
